It is the above article, with *I think* the 32" barrel - haven’t measured. 12GA. No photos yet - shopworn, definitely dates from no later than the ‘30s. AMA.

The one on the bottom is very elegant.

The browning on this one is not terribly well marbled or pretty, and the walnut stock has been beat up a bit. It also has an ill-fitted butt pad, which I totally understand the existence of, because a 30"+ barrel 12GA that weighs less than eight pounds is the definition of “cruisin’ for a bruisin’”.

Awesome!

I think there is something to be said for scuffed-up furniture on a rifle. Not beaten to crap, mind you, but worn from good lovin’. I’m that way with my stuff: I don’t like to agonize over keeping things pristine because it gets in the way of my enjoying them.

I’m going to be frank, I don’t know if it’ll be much beyond a clays gun. Even target practice with birdshot will probably smart after twenty rounds - once I take the decayed butt pad off - but it’s a really nifty old campaigner and I fell in love with it down at the pawn shop.

This is the kind of shotgun you’d inherit from a granddad, and indeed, somebody probably did. It would look right at home behind the seat of a ‘48 Ford pickup.

It’s a shame more people haven’t or don’t shoot singles and doubles. They’re such nice shooting guns, especially for clays.

I’m going to have to do research to find out how old this one is. The Arms
and Cycle Works
pretty much means no later than the ‘30s, and it doesn’t have a serial as such, just a several letter code which may be a lot number.

It’s not damascus is it?

Nope. Somewhere on the blued/browned continuum.

About like this one.

Cool, that’ll be a nice addition.

I don’t know yet if the butt plate has this amazing owl on it, but I will find out soon, when I take the pad off:

Hopefully, that’s a really neat emblem.

Awesome pickup.

It’s nearly identical to this one down to the pad that’s on it, but with slightly better wood. I think.:

I paid a lot more, but bird in the hand, and even paying way more than what that lucky SOB got that one for is still an affordable get.

I need to find a good side by side.

There were a couple of them down at the shop, but the IJ had already stolen my heart.

Very cool. Go find a trap field!

I expect this thing to be the bomb shiznit at trap shooting. Also firework rounds, obviously.

Haha my competition gun is a 28 inch barrel, I haven’t shot any much longer than that.
